What's a Playbook?

A playbook is a comprehensive, fully integrated business plan for a sports team, venue, promoter, league, concert, music festival, organizing committee, facility, etc... In short, anyone and everyone who is in the Sports & Entertainment Business could benefit from a Playbook and should have a comprehensive business plan.

It's a plan that becomes the road map to success. By identifying goals & objectives for the short, mid & long term; the Playbook Management System will assist any organization in developing a plan to ensure you realize your goals. The plan focuses on two areas: running an efficient operation while developing strategies and plans to maximize revenue.

The Playbook is created by PMI and your organization. It's a practical business plan that will help your organization reach your goals. The process is very inclusive... it's your business plan so you and your team play a critical role in creating it. You and your leadership team identify the priorities for your organization and in turn Goals that you want to achieve. Using our expertise and the best practices from around the Sports & Entertainment World; PMI will assist you in developing the plan, consulting all aspects of your organization then making sure you effectively execute the plan.

The Playbook Management System starts with a two day business retreat. Day One is the Executive Leadership team & PMI. Day Two is your Management Team, Key Executives that you want to include, your Exec Leadership team & PMI. The format and agenda for the 2nd day of the meeting is adapted to your leadership style and the culture of your organization to make sure that it's a seamless process and one that generates maximum results.

PMI will then start to work on the Playbook; creating the Comprehensive Plan with input/feedback from your Management Team. This process includes additional conference calls and meetings. This Playbook will become the Foundation for future years with PMI assisting you in identifying future year's goals & objectives.

Once the final Playbook is approved by the Executive Leadership team, PMI will present the Playbook to your Management team with everyone walking out of the meeting with their Playbook in hand (which by definition is a Plan for Success.) Depending on the size of your organization, we encourage a Playbook Presentation (abridged version) to the entire Organization where everyone on Staff can walk away with the adapted Business Plan.

PMI will then work with your Management Team to ensure the plan is executed. Then at the end of the year, PMI will host a Year End Retreat; where we review this year's Playbook and start to work on the next year's Plan.

Primary Benefits to the Playbook:

  • Creating short, mid and long term goals & objectives for your organization with a strategic plan to accomplish the goals & objectives.
  • Creating a Historical Document; in future years, if someone has a question about the Business Operation in 2010; they can reference the 2010 Playbook.
  • Creating Team Unity by making sure everyone is on the same page.
  • Creating Accountability for everyone by clearly establishing expectations & role towards accomplishing goals & objectives.
  • Having a Playbook will assist with Investor Presentations and/or Sponsorship presentations to show the goals, vision, mission of the organization and comprehensive plan to accomplish the goals.
  • When hiring new Managers (or Executives); you have a plan to present to them as part of their new hire orientation to get them up to speed and on the same page from the start.
